Grey Cup ticket buyers to receive a Vanier Cup Championship ticket for a limited time

(Vancouver) The BC Lions Football Club, proud host of the 99th Grey Cup Championship and Festival, is very pleased to announce that when tickets for Canada’s largest sporting event go on sale to the public Tuesday, June 21st at 10:00 am PT, ticket buyers will receive a ticket to the 2011 Vanier Cup Championship for each Grey Cup ticket purchased.

Returning to Vancouver for the first time since 2005, the 2011 Grey Cup Festival will Raise the Roof in Vancouver from Thursday, November 24th through to the 99th Grey Cup Championship game on Sunday, November 27th at the newly renovated BC Place.

“We look forward to hosting the 2011 Grey Cup Festival and to bringing the Grey Cup Championship back to Vancouver this November,” said Dennis Skulsky, president and CEO of the BC Lions. “CFL fans from across the country will be treated to a spectacular event.”

2011 will mark only the third time since 1973 that the Grey Cup Championship and Vanier Cup Championship have been played on the same weekend in the same City. The 47th Vanier Cup also marks the first time the prestigious Championship will be decided in the Province of British Columbia. Canada’s highest level of amateur football will be showcased in the new BC Place stadium on Friday November 25th, 2011. For a limited time, every Grey Cup ticket purchased will include a ticket to Friday’s championship game, courtesy of the 2011 Grey Cup Festival. Single game Vanier Cup game tickets will be available for purchase later in the summer. The 2005 Grey Cup sold out in record pace so fans are encouraged to purchase tickets early.

“We are thrilled to be a part of the 2011 Grey Cup Festival,” said Clint Hamilton, CIS Past President and Director of Athletics and Recreation at the University of Victoria. “The 47th annual Vanier Cup carries a storied history and will certainly add to the excitement of Grey Cup weekend.”

The 99th annual Grey Cup Championship will kick off Sunday, November 27th. As Canada’s largest sporting event, the Grey Cup and Grey Cup Festival are a uniquely Canadian celebration of sport and culture with a storied history and deep traditions. Tickets are available to purchase from $125 plus HST and convenience fees. Limit 8 per person.
