BC PLACE TURNS “GREEN” ON TUESDAY

August 31st, 2012

August 31, 2012

Vancouver, BC: BC Place will light the 36-foot tall Northern Lights Display green on Tuesday, September 4th, in support of the Take a Hike Foundation’s “TREES 4 TEENS” tree planting and fundraising campaign.

BC Place is proud to support this initiative, which aims to raise $25,000 this fall for the Take a Hike program. The program provides at-risk youth with the opportunity to make positive change in their lives through academics, adventure-based learning, therapy and community involvement.

Between now and September 30th, the corporate community is urged to buy groups of trees from the TREES 4 TEENS campaign, or challenge their employees to sell trees for $10 each. All trees purchased will be planted around Metro Vancouver in October by Take a Hike students and volunteers. More than 6,600 trees have been sold and planted since the initiative began four years ago. For more information, visit www.takeahikefoundation.org/trees4teens

About the “Northern Lights Display” at BC Place
The stadium roof façade – known as the Northern Lights Display - utilizes 1700 ‘ETFE’ panels, stacked four rows high, and 6,800 linear feet of energy-efficient LED lights to create customizable lighting displays. BC Place has utilised the entire roof to promote events (orange for BC Lions, blue for Vancouver Whitecaps FC), to create seasonal and holiday displays, and to generate awareness for community and charitable organizations.
