BC Place lights up purple for Big Brothers Big Sisters Day

BC Place will light up purple on Tuesday, September 18th for Big Brothers Big Sisters Day, an event dedicated to celebrating and showcasing the power and impact of mentoring.
Many children and youth in Canada struggle with societal barriers and face adversities in their lives. Facing prolonged adversity creates toxic stress in the brain that can negatively impact development, but with the support of a mentor, these risks can be reduced or even avoided, and youth can reach their full potential. Each Big Brothers Big Sisters agency provides direct service to children by matching volunteers and youths in quality mentoring relationships. This year alone Big Brothers Big Sisters has impacted over 40,000 youth in over 1,100 communities across Canada.
