BC Place glows red for Stroke Awareness
June 8th, 2019
BC Place will glow red for Stroke Awareness Month on Saturday, June 8th.
A stroke happens when blood stops flowing to any part of your brain, damaging brain cells. The effects of a stroke depend on the part of the brain that was damaged and the amount of damage done. Stroke is the third leading cause of death in Canada, after heart disease and cancer. More than 62,000 strokes occur in Canada each year and that number continues to rise, leaving more than 405,000 people in Canada living with the effects of stroke.
