May 15th, 2020
BC Place will light up blue and purple for Huntington Disease Awareness on Friday, May 15th.
Huntington disease (HD) is a hereditary, neurodegenerative illness with physical, cognitive and emotional symptoms. Physical symptoms can include weight loss, involuntary movements (chorea), diminished coordination, difficulty walking, talking and swallowing. Approximately 1 in every 1000 Canadians suffers from HD and there are no drugs to slow or stop the progression of Huntington disease to date.
