BC Place lights up for Intestinal Malrotation Awareness Day
January 15th, 2021
BC Place will light up green, orange and blue to recognize Intestinal Malrotation Awareness Day on Friday, January 15th.
Intestinal malrotation (IM) is a condition that affects the positioning of a person's intestines within their abdomen. It usually affects a person's small and large intestine, however sometimes only the small intestine or only the large intestine is affected.
Most people don't know they have intestinal malrotation unless they begin to experience complications. Intestinal malrotation is a congenital birth defect, which means it occurs while a fetus is still developing.
