June 19th, 2024

Vancouver to host the opening race of the 2024 FIM World Supercross Championship on October 26, 2024

SX Global, the official promoters of the FIM World Supercross Championship (WSX), today revealed that Vancouver, Canada, will host the opening round of the series’ 2024 season by holding a race inside BC Place – the home of Major League Soccer (MLS) team, Vancouver Whitecaps FC, and Canadian Football League (CFL) team, BC Lions – on October 26.

After a highly successful pilot season in 2022, WSX built upon its foundations by expanding into new markets in 2023 – a campaign which saw German motorcycle superstar, Ken Roczen, claim a second WSX World Championship title while Britain’s Max Anstie etched his name on the SX2 World Championship crown.

Alongside confirming the official start of its 2024 season in Vancouver, WSX also revealed its full calendar for the year ahead, which, following the Canadian Grand Prix on October 26, will continue in Perth, Australia, on November 23-24 with a double-header event at HBF Park.

The series will then head to Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, on December 4 where the Etihad Arena will host the finale of the 2024 campaign.

Since opening its doors in 1983, BC Place has forged a respected reputation for delivering world-class events and has welcomed more than 35 million guests over the past 40 years. In 2010, the venue hosted the Opening and Closing Ceremonies for the Winter Olympic Games and has become a hub for sport, live music, and entertainment in Canada.

Vancouver’s sporting pedigree makes it the ideal venue for the return of Supercross, the first time the sport has taken place inside the city in over a decade.

Tickets for the Canadian Grand Prix will go on sale soon. Register your interest to get priority access at https://wsxchampionship.com/.

Andy Edwards, SX Global Executive Chairman, said: “There were a few twists and turns to get here but I’m so thrilled that the City of Vancouver has come on board to make a Canadian Grand Prix a reality this year.  WSX is all about delivering the most exciting Supercross racing to premium cities around the world so racing in Canada, which already has an engaged and passionate fanbase, and more specifically, in Vancouver, which is a true global city, is the perfect way for us to start our third season. BC Place has a proven track record in delivering events of the highest quality, and I’m confident that fans will be in for an exciting and memorable night of racing this October.”

Mayor Ken Sim, City of Vancouver, said: “Vancouver is ready to welcome motocross fans from around the world as we gear up to host the 2024 FIM World Supercross Championship season opener. We're thrilled to kick off this electrifying race to victory, bringing excitement, adrenaline, and a thrilling showcase of global talent to our city.”
