April is Daffodil Month across Canada, a national fundraising campaign of the Canadian Cancer Society. Activities include distributing fresh daffodils; asking people to make a donation and wear a daffodil pin, and canvassing door to door. In addition, the City of Vancouver and the Province of BC has designated April 27th as Daffodil Day - a special day when Canadians can show their support for those living with cancer, and remember those who have died.

About the “Northern Lights Display” at BC Place
The stadium roof façade – known as the Northern Lights Display - utilizes 1700 ‘ETFE’ panels, stacked four rows high, and 6,800 linear feet of energy-efficient LED lights to create customizable lighting displays. ETFE is a semi-transparent material that allows sunlight into the stadium during the day, but it also contains metal dots called “frits” that reflect the LED light displays at night. Together with the new 38,000 square metre roof at BC Place roof, the Northern Lights Display enables a wide range of both static and dynamic programming, with a total of more than 26,000 addressable lighting elements. BC Place has utilised the entire roof to promote events (orange for BC Lions, blue for Vancouver Whitecaps), seasonal and holiday displays (red and green at Christmas), and for community and charitable organizations, such as illuminating pink on ‘Pink Shirt’ day to create awareness for anti-bullying, red for AIDS awareness, purple for Epilepsy Awareness Day, and more.
