Vancouver, April 18, 2013 - BC Place is wearing ‘blue and yellow’ this weekend to show support for those affected by the tragedy in Boston.

The stadium is shining a light on this weekend’s Sun Run by turning its Northern Lights display ‘blue and yellow’. The display shows support for those affected by this week’s bombings at the Boston marathon. It also helps celebrate the lead up to the annual race day, with BC Place being a sponsor and host venue for the event.

BC Place General Manager, Howard Crosley, said: “We have worked closely with our partners to ensure that we host a safe and enjoyable event this weekend. We are looking forward to welcoming everyone and sharing their experience as they cross the finish line. We hope to see as many runners as possible in blue and yellow.”

The 36-foot tall Northern Lights display at BC Place will be illuminated ‘blue and yellow’ from Thursday evening (April 18) to Sunday (April 21).

Times:
6:00AM to sunrise
Sunset to 11:00PM

The Sun Run Fair begins today and continues until April 20, 2013.

About the “Northern Lights” at BC Place
The stadium roof façade – known as the Northern Lights Display - uses 1700 ‘ETFE’ panels, stacked four rows high, and 6,800 linear feet of energy-efficient LED lights to create customizable lighting displays. BC Place has used the entire roof to promote specific events, create seasonal displays and raise awareness for community and charitable organizations.
